Alternative Treatment?

Postby mother1991 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 8:42 pm

i would like to know if anyone else has had problems with wrapping and banding causing rash, skin irritation, breakdown of skin? Tried twice both tiomes all materials latex free, second time mostly cotton and other natural materials very little in polyester. I also can not wear compression stockings because it too tight around waist and abdomen even a bit looser than the norm because it compnds the issue with chronic nausea, vomiting, and abdominable pain from side effect of gastric bypass surgery. Insurance at this point do not want to pay from pneumatic pump with adjustable sleeves. Am getting a referralto see a Lymphedema specialist MD that is contrated with insurance to see what she may be able to offer and she feels too pnematic pump best then she will be able to get insurance approval easier. I am also hoping to get definitive diagnosis if I now have lymphedema in my right arm which started swelling a year ago. My diagnosis of lymphedema and lipodema bilateral legs was diagnosed about 8 years ago. Not sure if it is primary but swelling started in puberty. i am also hoping too to if the doctor can also help with definitiver diagnosis to see if the stomach issues are also componded by lymphedema of the intestines as well. The only place that know of right now up on lymphedema of the intestines is Mayo Clinic in Minnisota but I am in California. Been told the reaction to wrapping and bandaging not really seen and perplexing to lymphedema therapist.

Thanks for any advice and if someone else has the same issue what helped for you?
